76ers rookie Jared McCain attends Phillies game and Eagles home opener
The Philadelphia 76ers are gearing up for the 2024-25 season with training camp starting on Oct. 1 in The Bahamas. With notable offseason moves, the Sixers are aiming to challenge the defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics.
Expectations are high, and fans are hopeful the team can finally take that next step.
Before the grind begins, Sixers rookie Jared McCain is already soaking in the Philly sports scene and made his rounds, attending a Phillies game followed by the Philadelphia Eagles home opener on Monday night.
McCain threw out the first pitch at a Phillies game over the weekend and kept the Philly love going on Monday by showing up at Lincoln Financial Field for the Eagles’ home opener against the Falcons.

Jared McCain’s enthusiasm for the city’s sports culture is definitely a good sign and he’s already experiencing what it means to be a part of a passionate Philadelphia fan base.
The Sixers will look to channel that same energy when their season officially tips off on Oct. 23. McCain, the 76ers’ No. 16 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, will enter the season as the third shooting guard on the roster.
While he showcased impressive shooting at Duke, hitting 41.4% from beyond the arc, his summer league performance was more shaky, shooting just 25.5% from deep in both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. His ability to knock down shots will be key to earning more minutes, and it will be interesting to see how he adjusts and develops as his rookie season unfolds.
With the Phillies pushing toward the playoffs and the Eagles chasing another Super Bowl, Jared McCain and the new-look Sixers hope to deliver their own success to a city that thrives on its sports teams.
