Disgraced hockey ‘journalist’ tries to pull a fast one – Fails Miserably

We are weeks removed from the tragic, horrific passing of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother–another professional player–Matthew.

It was a story that shook the hockey world to its core, and sent tremors out to the entire sports world– a tragedy that still rends my heart while I’m writing this.

He was taken away from us by a drunk driver who had no business being behind the wheel, and someone who has shown no remorse in the aftermath. Rather, he seems more concerned with the fact that he might see prison for the atrocity he committed.

Underneath of that tragedy, there was a subplot that had transpired involving a reporter who endeavored to cover the Flyers and called himself Dylan Robillard.

You’ll see shortly why I said “called himself” that, but you need more context!

See, the way everyone knew for certain that the worst had happened was that the Columbus Blue Jackets had released a heartfelt statement to apprise us of this nightmarish tragedy. But that isn’t when we first got an inkling of what had happened.

No.

It all started when “Dylan” had… reported… a rumor… that Johnny Gaudreau and “family members” may be dead. The syntax is simultaneously ghoulish and almost amusing. Because he thought he was Elliote Friedman breaking a trade.

Dylan Robillard: Hockey ‘Journalist

He was so desperate to be first on the story that he reported someone’s untimely demise, despite knowingly being “not 100% sure.”

Even in the event that he was, it was mystifying to just about everybody how he believed that this was his story to tell. But he was determined to “be first.”

Suffice to say, people were pissed. “Dylan” had a PR crisis of his own devising to navigate.

He had a few options. He could issue a heartfelt apology and explain his actions in a way that made some amount of sense, take the arrows that would inevitably come his way, and endeavor to move past this ugly chapter with determination and grace.

He said, “NAH!”

He issued some maybe-apology that he clearly didn’t believe, and then said nobody would care if he apologized anyway because everyone hates him regardless.

(Gee, I wonder how that happened?)

When all of that failed to work, he presumably gave his account to his fiancé who posted on his behalf saying that he was attempting to “learn” something and that all of the people furious with him were actually just haters interfering with his learning process… or something.

I, for one, thought hiding behind his woman was as low as he was going to go. I didn’t think it was possible to go lower, but this person is a limbo champion and he managed to get down to the floor.

He found the new option: “What if I did the social media version of changing my name and fleeing the country?”

Allow me to introduce you to… hold on, I gotta grab the post… the name is too transparently fake to recall off the top of my head.

Lorence Hendrix: Hockey ‘Journalist’

Ah, there we are. LORENCE HENDRIX!

Credit to The Subsection–the Illuminati of Flyers X–for doing the digging on this. There is no escaping the Subsection, “Dylan” or “Lorence.”

We will find you whether you flee to Mexico or Siberia. We will always find you. We’re like the CIA. We don’t need extradition treaties to get your ass.

Once I came knocking on his door, he did the only thing that he COULD do… he attempted to flee using the backdoor.

He did, however, take a sound piece of advice.

He thought he was safe after he removed the pinned tweet. This whole concept is actually pretty sick, by the way. It might be one thing if he decided to delete his account, and then come back months later under a pseudonym on a different account that he builds from the ground up without the stench of what he’s done plaguing him.

I could respect that. But his vanity wouldn’t allow it.

HE NEEDED TO KEEP THOSE FOLLOWERS! Those 4,665 followers. He loves that follower count. He loves that follower account so much that he wanted to use Johnny Gaudreau’s death to boost it.

It’s really sick.

Funnily enough, he actually changed his name again once the Subsection got to him.

HE’S BACK TO BEING DYLAN NOW!

His revolving door of Unsuitable Aliases didn’t stop there. He failed to keep up with his own lies over on IG, where he remained “Lorence” instead of “Dylan”

For a while. He thought he was clever, actually. He’s trying to explain his ferris wheel of fake name switching.

Is that supposed to be “Lorence Dylan”?

Who even knows anymore? He doesn’t know his own name.

But that’s okay. Chris of The Subsection gave him the name he’s been searching for.

… Robilitard.

No first name necessary!
