NO MERCY: Jim Furyk wants blood at the Presidents Cup, tells Golfweek’s Adam Schupak to f-ck himself
JIMMY! The US Presidents Cup team captain Jim Furyk went OFF on Golfweek’s Adam Schupak after he was questioned about the International Team needing a win to “energize the event” – which the Americans have absolutely dominated in year’s past.

Hell yeah, this is exactly what I want from a captain. I don’t care if it’s the Presidents Cup, Ryder Cup, or whatever random cup you can throw out there—give me a guy like Jim Furyk who’s ready to rip the head off his opponent. No soft vibes, no diplomacy, just pure no prisoners mentality.
Sure, the Presidents Cup is always the little brother to the Ryder Cup, but who cares? The U.S. has dominated this event, and that’s how it should be. We’ve won all but two times (one was a tie), and I’m good with that. I want every team wearing red, white, and blue to crush the competition.
Some people love the drama when things get close, but you know what? In the words of Jim Furyk, screw that. The U.S. needs this win after getting embarrassed in last year’s Ryder Cup. Losing the Presidents Cup too? In Canada? Nah, we’re not doing that.
These guys need to start winning again and carry that momentum into next year’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage. Furyk’s attitude is the jolt we needed—compared to whatever that Zach Johnson “golly gee” act was. This is what a captain should sound like.
Not some laid-back, “let’s see what happens” nonsense. If you’re out there hoping the International Team wins, Furyk’s got a message for you, and it’s not polite.
And no, Furyk’s not trying to sound tough. This is just how leaders should be—fired up, hungry, and ready to dominate. Remember, Furyk was the captain when we got embarrassed in France at the 2018 Ryder Cup. You think he forgot? He’s been pissed off ever since, and now he’s out for blood, no matter what the event is.
At the end of the day, every athlete should want to win every single time they step out there. And Furyk clearly cares about the Presidents Cup. You should too. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
Next week, I want to see Furyk, Scottie, Xander, Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Cantlay, Theegala, Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Keegan Bradley, Brian Harman, and Max Homa obliterate the International Team. Let’s make it 30-0. Clean sweep. Total domination.
No mercy. Just how it should be.
