Full Schedule: Phillies will begin Red October on Saturday, October 5th in the NLDS

Last night, the Phillies took down the Chicago Cubs 9-6 (nice), while the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-1. That Brewers loss was exactly what Philly needed, locking up a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NLDS.

With just three regular-season games left, don’t expect the Phillies’ starting pitchers to go deep into their outings this weekend. Manager Rob Thomson will likely give some of his key players, like Bryce Harper and J.T. Realmuto, a bit of rest. Harper, for one, has been managing elbow and wrist issues, and even felt a sting in his elbow while swinging during Wednesday’s game.

That means Red October has arrived early in Philadelphia. The Phillies will begin the NLDS on Saturday, October 5th. If the postseason started today, they would face the winner of the Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks series.

On the other side of the NL bracket, the Dodgers will face the winner of the New York Mets and San Diego Padres Wild Card Series.

Still plenty up for grabs. The Atlanta Braves and Mets are set to face off in a rare, season-ending doubleheader on Monday while the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres will battle it out this weekend to determine final seeding.
