Portnoy doubles down on Phillies $200k World Series Bet and calls out Mets fans ahead of Game 2 of NLDS

If you know Dave Portnoy, you’re no stranger to El Presidentes’ big-time futures bets in the world of sports. With the MLB Playoffs officially underway, the owner of Barstool Sports took to social media to remind everyone he’s backing the Phillies this October.

For those that aren’t aware, Portnoy placed a $200k future on the Phils to win the World Series back in July. However, after falling down 0-1 in the NLDS to the Mets, Davey clearly couldn’t take anymore of those obnoxious Mets fans and decided to take a stand.

Portnoy’s message to Phillies fans

“What I bet for futures, wins! UCONN, Celtics, Scottie Scheffler, Michigan.”

It’s hard to argue against Portnoy’s track record. He’s had quite the 2024 in the futures betting market. It’s only right at this point that we cap it off with a World Series win. I’m sure this feels bittersweet for Philly fans, as Portnoy is a Boston guy, through and through. But after losing game 1 in the fashion that the Phillies did, I think we’ll all collectively do whatever it takes to win this series.

“I was gonna stay on the side, not make it about me. It’s about me now. All you Philly scumbags, climb on Dave’s back.”

Look, I personally don’t care that Dave is trying to make this about himself. I am disgusted this team managed to lose that game. We had the Mets right where we wanted them, and then somehow managed to collapse. Kyle Schwarber with the lead-off home run, Zack Wheeler was dealing, and the bank was rocking… It was all there for the Phils to put a stop to this hot Mets team.

Unfortunately, all of our Saturdays were ruined. With that said, our attention now turns to Game 2, as Cristopher Sanchez gets the start over Aaron Nola. If this team is truly going to make a deep run, they need to get it done today. I honestly can’t imagine what Dave will end up doing if we manage to lose two-straight home games to start this series.
