NBA Cup 2024-25: 76ers Debut New Court Design, Seek Redemption in Group A
The second annual NBA Cup tips off this November, and the Philadelphia 76ers are ready to give it another shot after a lackluster debut last season.
Drawn into Group A in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers will battle the Orlando Magic, Charlotte Hornets, Brooklyn Nets, and New York Knicks for a chance to advance to the tournament’s final stage in Las Vegas this December.
Philly’s first attempt in the inaugural tournament didn’t go as planned, with the team failing to emerge from the group stage.
But with a reloaded roster that includes All-NBA wing Paul George and a healthy Joel Embiid (hopefully), the Sixers are better positioned to make a deep run this time around. Of course, that means that Embiid and Paul George will have to be on the court which right now, is the topic of many debates.

Philadelphia 76ers Court Update: Cleaner, Less Red for 2024-25

Last year’s vibrant, all-over painted surfaces received mixed reviews, with the 76ers’ being particularly criticized for its overpowering red tones. The 76ers will have have a fresh look this time around.
The new design appears cleaner and more balanced, dialing back on the aggressive color scheme in favor of something a bit more polished.
The 76ers’ new court hint at a more refined approach that still maintains the bold spirit of the tournament’s Statement Edition theme. Whether the changes will be received more positively by fans is anyone’s guess, but there’s a sense that this year’s design is aiming for a more modern feel.

Group A: Can the 76ers Topple New York?
Group A features plenty of familiar foes, but the Knicks are expected to be the biggest hurdle for Philly. After a strong showing in the 2023-24 NBA Cup, New York will be looking to build on its momentum. The Magic and Hornets are still young teams on the rise, capable of surprising upsets, while the Nets remain a wild card with an evolving roster.
