Donald Trump is planning to attend Ohio State vs Penn State in Happy Valley on Saturday
Former President Donald Trump is set to make an appearance at Beaver Stadium on November 2, where the No. 3 Penn State Nittany Lions will face off against the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes.
It’s not just a marquee college football matchup; it’s also a high-stakes visit, given that both schools are located in crucial swing states for the upcoming presidential election.
The timing and location of Trump’s visit make it clear that this is more than just a trip to watch some football—it’s part of his ongoing effort to win over Pennsylvania voters.
Trump has been doubling down on Pennsylvania as election season ramps up, and this visit is a key part of his strategy.
He’s planning a rally at the Bryce Jordan Center, Penn State’s basketball arena, just one week before the game. University officials have confirmed that Trump received a private invitation to watch the game from a suite, according to spokesperson Wyatt DuBois, who spoke to Onward State, the student-run news outlet.
A university spokesperson has since confirmed that Donald Trump is planning to attend the game.
“The University has been notified that a private citizen has invited former President Donald Trump to attend the Ohio State-Penn State football game as a guest in their suite,” said Wyatt DuBois when speaking to Onward State, a student-run news organization in State College.
Trump’s appearance at a major college football game isn’t surprising, as he’s been on the campaign trail at sporting events before.
He was in Tuscaloosa for Alabama’s clash with Georgia on September 28, and just last weekend, he attended the Steelers-Jets game in Pittsburgh.
These visits are clearly part of his strategy to engage with swing-state voters through America’s favorite pastime: football.
What does this mean for those attending the Penn State vs Ohio State game?
For fans heading to Beaver Stadium on game day, expect a much more intense experience than usual.
The combination of one of the biggest college football matchups of the year and a former president’s presence will mean heightened security measures.
DuBois mentioned that the Secret Service is working closely with University Police, Public Safety, and other state and local law enforcement agencies to ensure safety. This means longer lines, thorough bag checks, and more security personnel around the stadium.
In the same statement that Wyatt DuBois gave Onward State, he said this:
“The U.S. Secret Service is working with University Police and Public Safety and other state and local law enforcement on safety and security measures that are put into place around the presence of presidential candidates. With that in mind, we encourage fans, anyone visiting campus, and all those attending the game to arrive early to the game or to their intended destinations.”
Traveling to Beaver Stadium is already a challenge on game days, but with the added security for Trump’s visit, it’s going to require even more patience.
University officials are urging fans to leave earlier than usual—not just for parking and tailgating, but also for getting through the security lines at the stadium gates.
Fans, especially students who may not be used to this level of scrutiny, should expect delays at every step of the way.
Trump’s presence adds even more intrigue to an already massive showdown between two of the nation’s top teams. The stakes will be high on the field, but the impact could be just as significant off it, as the former president makes his latest move in swing-state politics.
Whether you’re a Penn State fan, an Ohio State fan, or just following the election season, this one is shaping up to be a wild day in State College.
