Justin Fields Slide Steelers Ravens

WATCH: Justin Fields, Steelers narrowly avoid disaster in 18-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens

Justin Fields had a close call late in Sunday’s Steelers-Ravens showdown, but he—and Pittsburgh—managed to escape unscathed. With the Steelers clinging to an 18-16 lead and just over a minute to play, Fields stepped in for Russell Wilson on the final drive.

Head coach Mike Tomlin dialed up Fields’ rushing ability to close out the game, and while the plan mostly worked, Fields nearly turned a big play into a big mistake.

On 2nd-and-10, Fields broke loose for a big gain but started his slide about a yard shy of the first-down marker. For those unfamiliar, the ball is spotted where the slide begins—not where the player lands—so this was a significant blunder.

Justin Fields Slid Too Early:

Fortunately for Justin Fields, Najee Harris bailed him out on the next play, gaining just enough for a fresh set of downs to ice the game. If Harris had been stuffed, Fields would’ve been sweating bullets on the sideline. Instead, the Steelers moved to 8-2, widening their AFC North lead over the 7-4 Ravens.

As for the game itself? It was classic Steelers-Ravens: gritty, sloppy, and decided in the final moments. Turnovers, missed opportunities, and weird scorelines were the theme, but this rivalry always delivers drama.

Here in Philadelphia…

December is shaping up to be a big month for the Eagles. First up, a road trip to face the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, December 1st, with kickoff set for 4:25 PM. Just two weeks later, the Eagles will host the Pittsburgh Steelers at The Linc.

Both games will be crucial tests against tough AFC opponents that could play a major role in shaping the Eagles’ playoff push while also helping erase memories of last year’s late-season collapse.
