The Phillies’ star power was on full display Thursday as Zack Wheeler and Bryce Harper were named to the All-MLB Teams during the second annual All-MLB Weekend in Las Vegas, presented by MGM Rewards. Both players are no strangers to this recognition, having been named to the All-MLB Team in 2021—Bryce Harper as a First Team outfielder and Zack Wheeler on the Second Team. This year’s accolades, voted on by fans, celebrate the best players across all of baseball at each position.

Zack Wheeler’s 2024 season was nothing short of dominant. He posted a 16-7 record with 200 innings pitched, a 2.57 ERA, and 224 strikeouts, accumulating an impressive 6.1 bWAR. Among NL starters, Wheeler led in key categories like WHIP (0.96), opponents’ batting average (.192), and quality starts (26).
He also ranked second in ERA, strikeouts, and wins, trailing only NL Triple Crown winner Chris Sale. Wheeler’s consistency and ability to go deep into games made him one of the league’s most reliable arms.
Harper, in his first full season at first base, put up stellar numbers offensively and defensively. He slashed .285/.381/.517 with 30 home runs, 87 RBIs, and a 149 OPS+, while also earning a Gold Glove nomination at his new position. Harper’s versatility and production helped anchor the Phillies’ lineup throughout the season.
Wheeler’s stellar campaign also earned him a spot as a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award alongside Sale and Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes, both of whom were also named First Team All-MLB. Harper, meanwhile, is expected to pick up some NL MVP votes, though Dodgers DH Shohei Ohtani remains the heavy favorite to take home the award.
For the Phillies, these honors reaffirm the strength of their core players. Wheeler and Harper continue to be among the elite in the game, giving Philadelphia fans plenty to look forward to heading into 2025.
