NBC ‘gave thanks’ to Americans on Thursday Night by robbing them of violinist Lindsey Stirling’s halftime performance at Lambeau Field
On Thanksgiving night, violinist Lindsey Stirling brought her incredible talent to Lambeau Field for a halftime show that should have been one of the most memorable moments of the night in an otherwise lopsided 30-17 victory for the Green Bay Packers over the Miami Dolphins.
Instead, NBC decided to “give thanks” by snatching that opportunity away from viewers and only ended up rolling a whole us whole seconds of her performance before cutting back to the same tired halftime football analysis no one ever even pays attention to in the first place.
Lindsey Stirling Halftime Show Never Aired on NBC During Dolphins-Packers
Who actually cares about halftime football breakdowns?
Does anyone sit there thinking, “You know what I need right now? Another dull recap of what I just watched for 30 minutes”? Of course not – even more so in such a boring, one-sided game between the Fins and the Pack.
What people want is entertainment—something fresh, something worth their time—and Lindsey Stirling delivered exactly that. Too bad NBC decided we didn’t deserve to see it.
Quick Note: I’ll be honest, I had no idea who Lindsey Stirling was until after NBC botched the broadcast but a quick look at her Instagram will convince you that we missed out on classic American artistry, blending incredible violin skills with high-energy choreography. It’s the kind of unique spectacle that stands out in a sea of cookie-cutter halftime acts.
NBC robbed America of Lindsey Stirling:
Her performance was pure artistry, blending incredible violin skills with high-energy choreography. It’s the kind of unique spectacle that stands out in a sea of cookie-cutter halftime acts.
But instead of showcasing it, NBC gave the spotlight to the same recycled commentary we’ve all heard a million times. Why bother hyping up her performance on social media if you’re just going to cut away from it?
Let’s not forget, this is the same network that aired Jack Harlow’s embarrassing attempt at a halftime show last year. They had no problem letting us sit through that train wreck in its entirety. Yet when it comes to something genuinely impressive, they couldn’t even spare a couple of minutes. It’s baffling.
Lindsey Stirling deserved better, and so did the viewers. NBC blew a chance to give us something extraordinary, opting instead for the same old routine that no one really cares about. It’s time to ask if networks are even trying anymore.
Halftime should be a break from the game—a chance to be entertained, not another opportunity for analysts to drone on about stats we’ve already seen.
