Jadeveon Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney says Eagles fans ‘throw stuff at you’ and ‘talk the most junk out of any fans’ – I wonder why he feels that way?

Jadeveon Clowney isn’t exactly hyped about his upcoming trip to Lincoln Financial Field when his Carolina Panthers face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

When asked about facing the Eagles in Philly this Sunday, Clowney didn’t hold back on his thoughts about Birds fans, saying “they throw stuff at you” and “They talk the most junk out of any fans.”

Jadeveon Clowney: “They throw stuff at you. They talk the most junk out of anybody.”

To be fair, Clowney’s comments felt more like banter than anything malicious. Not to mention, the first remark is completely untrue. I can’t think of any video in recent memory where Eagles fans were throwing stuff at opposing players but if anyone deserved such treatment, I think Jadeveon Clowney would fit the bill.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that anyone should actually throw shit at this dude. He’s a member of the 3-9 Carolina Panthers. Their football team is irrelevant and Tyrese Maxey stole your starting quarterback’s girl. We basically own the Panthers already and haven’t even played a single snap of football yet.

But let’s entertain Clowney’s comments for a minute. Why would he say such a thing? Well, maybe because Clowney is responsible for two counts of attempted manslaughter on each of his past two visits to South Philadelphia.

For those who’ve blocked it out (understandable), Clowney’s reputation in Philly stems from two infamous hits. In 2018, while playing for the Texans, he nearly tore Nick Foles’ helmet off in what many viewed as a blatant cheap shot. Then in the 2019 Wild Card game, Clowney struck again, this time knocking Carson Wentz out of the game with a controversial hit to the back of his head.

Jadeveon Clowney attempted murder of Nick Foles:

Jadeveon Clowney attempted murder of Carson Wentz:

I don’t know, man. Maybe stop trying to kill our quarterbacks and your reception in the city of Brotherly Love would be different? Seems like a good place to start. Clowney just has to not try to kill our quarterbacks and he won’t feel like he’s public enemy No. 1 in the eyes of Eagles fans.

Sunday’s game marks his first return to Philly since those incidents, and honestly, I think most fans probably got over it already but now that you’re running your mouth before you arrive in South Philly, it had to be brought up and people are mad again.

Philly fans are fiercely loyal, and when you mess with their quarterbacks—especially during a playoff game—that’s enough to cement your villain status.

Again, Clowney’s comments about Eagles fans are probably meant as tongue-in-cheek, but now that we’re all re-living some of the dirtiest hits in recent memory, he’s probably going to hear it from Eagles fans on Sunday. At this point, I don’t even think it will matter that his Carolina Panthers are a miserable 3-9 or that the Eagles are surging at 10-2 on an eight-game winning streak.

Eagles fans should remind Jadeveon Clowney, loudly and unapologetically, why he’s not exactly welcome in Philly. We’ll see how it shakes out on Sunday at The Linc.
