WATCH: Joel Embiid Dominates in His Return, Tyrese Maxey First Career Triple-Double as Sixers beat Bulls

Ladies and gentlemen, The Process is finally back and boy, did Joel Embiid put a smile on my face yesterday as the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Chicago Bulls 108-100.

Trust me, I know how frustrating and mentally taxing it has been watching the 76ers play basketball this season. Pair that with the on-going uncertainty, game after game, of whether or not Joel Embiid would be able to play basketball, and I think everyone was ready to check out on this team before Christmas.

It’s been absolute hell trying to watch the Sixers fight for wins with lineups that mirrored the actual process days rather than a core featuring Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey but finally, order was restored to the realm yesterday in Chicago, and Embiid specifically delivered a much-needed reminder that when healthy, he’s one of the most dominant players in the world.

Embiid finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, and two blocks in a win over the Bulls. His chemistry with Tyrese Maxey in the pick and roll returned to the court and Paul George alongside of them finally gave fans hope that this season can be salvaged.

If you were worried about rust, let me assure you- it’s nonexistent. Embiid came out looking hungry, delivering a masterclass, and making NBA history in the process. Joel Embiid racked up his 100th career game with at least 30 points and 12 rebounds.

And if that wasn’t enough to put hope back in your hearts, Joel Embiid’s returning allowed for Tyrese’s Maxey’s first career triple-double.

If that doesn’t show or tell you the impact Embiid has on the court, I don’t know what the hell will. I know availability is the best ability, and fans are exhausted with Joel’s health, but you can’t deny his greatness.

While Joel Embiid was the main story in the 76er’s 108-100 win over the Bulls, it was Tyrese Maxey who stuffed the stat sheet like he has never done before.

Maxey logged over 42 minutes, delivering 25 points, 14 assists, and 11 rebounds.

This marked the first triple-double of his career, with the 14 assists and 11 rebounds setting new personal bests. Maxey’s previous career highs were 11 assists and 10 rebounds, achieved last season. Additionally, this performance marked his second double-double of the season. It is not common for a player to achieve so many personal milestones in a single game.

Maxey made so many beautiful passes in this game and surprise to no one, 10 of these assists went to the big man, Joel Embiid. While Maxey is no elite playmaker just yet it is very hopeful to see him take leaps in his passing abilities as we will need this going forward.
