Eagles Rumors: Big Dom had to separate Nick Sirianni and Commanders TE Zach Ertz during a postgame altercation
Commanders tight end Zach Ertz didn’t spend much time with Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni while still in Philadelphia.
During Sirianni’s first season on the job, Philadelphia traded Ertz to Arizona after their relationship became strained over an unresolved contract dispute. Three years later, there appears to still be bad blood between the two sides.
According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sirianni and Ertz got into an altercation following last week’s game and had to be separated by Eagles Chief Security Officer Dom DiSandro.

Neither Ertz nor Sirianni gave comments on the situation after the game, but McLane’s source offered some context:
“Ertz went to shake Sirianni’s hand and could tell the coach was agitated, so instead, gave him a high-five. Sirianni didn’t like the intensity of Ertz’s hand slap and mocked him because he had only one catch and told him he essentially did nothing to contribute to the Commanders’ win.
Ertz took exception and got in Sirianni’s face. Dom DiSandro jumped in and held Ertz back, and ushered Sirianni to the tunnel.
Sirianni later called Ertz and apologized over a Zoom conference call.”
QB Jalen Hurts left Sunday’s game with a concussion, and the defense surrendered 22 fourth-quarter points, leading to a 36-33 loss. If Ertz was taking a moment to gloat over beating the Kenny Pickett-led Eagles, I’m on Sirianni’s side.
Ertz was with the Eagles from 2013 to 2021 and is currently second on the franchise’s all-time receptions list with 579, ten behind Harold Carmichael.
