WATCH: Eagles fake tush push ran to perfection in Rutgers vs. Kansas State game
Rutgers took a page out of the Eagles playbook during Thursday night’s Rate Bowl at Chase Field, and the execution was pure Philly magic. After seeing this, you can’t help but wonder if Kellen Moore and Nick Sirianni have some similar tricks up their sleeves that they are hopefully saving for the NFL playoffs.
With Jalen Hurts sidelined due to a concussion, Eagles fans have been watching Kenny Pickett step in and attempt to keep the offense afloat.
At the 1-yard line, Rutgers mirrored that adaptability, lining up in the Eagles’ signature tush push formation—something Hurts has made legendary.
But in a twist worthy of the Birds, quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis faked the sneak and handed it off to running back Antwan Raymond, who strolled untouched into the end zone.

It was a gutsy, creative call that felt right at home with Philadelphia football, proving once again that the Eagles’ influence stretches far beyond the NFL.
I really don’t feel the need to go back down this road again in regards to defending the tush push, but it’s always worth a reminder that the play itself isn’t going anywhere.
It’s also important to let the haters know that the play literally only works for the Eagles due to the pure, brute strength and power that Jalen Hurts holds in his lower body.
I mean come on, there’s a reason why Jared Goff doesn’t run this play, ya know?
It’s not a cheat, it’s not an exploit, it’s a perfectly legal play. If the Eagles want to keep it in their playbook on Sunday against the Cowboys, then running this formation or something other than Kenny holding onto the football seems like the better option.
