Saquon Barkley becomes the 9th player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley made history today, becoming just the ninth player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season. Barkley’s incredible performance against the Dallas Cowboys was the latest chapter in a season for the ages.

Barkley is running wild against the Cowboys, carrying the ball 31 times for 167 yards to bring his season total to 2,003 rushing yards. His historic moment came with 10:49 left in the game, when a 23-yard burst put him over the 2,000-yard mark.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni immediately called a timeout to honor Barkley, allowing him to leave the field to a standing ovation from the South Philly faithful. It was a fitting tribute to one of the most dominant rushing seasons in NFL history.

Barkley is now part of an exclusive club, joining the likes of Eric Dickerson, Barry Sanders, and Adrian Peterson as one of just nine running backs to surpass 2,000 yards in a single season.

While Barkley could take a run at Dickerson’s record, it may come down to whether the Eagles decide to prioritize health over history.
