Phillies trade Tyler Gilbert to White Sox for Tennessee Vols standout Aaron Combs
Phillies Land Aaron Combs – The Phillies kicked off the new year with a roster move, trading left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Minor League right-hander Aaron Combs.
This deal follows Gilbert being designated for assignment on Dec. 22 to clear space for lefty Jesús Luzardo on the Phillies’ 40-man roster. Gilbert, a former Rule 5 draft pick who had flashes of success in the big leagues, now heads to Chicago to bolster their pitching depth.
As for Combs, the 25-year-old right-hander has shown promise in the minors, showcasing a solid strikeout rate and improving command over the past season. While not a household name, Combs could offer bullpen depth for the Phillies in the near future.
