It’s always tough to see a player go down, especially with an injury that not only ends their season but could impact their offseason and the next one as well.
That’s the reality for Christian Watson, whose absence will undoubtedly impact the Green Bay Packers’ offense in Sunday’s playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Christian Watson’s Impact
Watson has been Jordan Love’s best chunk-yardage threat all season. In 2024, he caught 29 passes for 620 yards and two touchdowns, averaging a whopping 21.4 yards per reception. He was a big-play machine, the kind of receiver who could flip a game on a single target.
His absence leaves a significant hole in the Packers’ offense. During a midseason stretch when the team went 6-1, Watson averaged five targets per game and consistently delivered explosive plays. That included a score against the Eagles during their international game in Brazil, where his ability to stretch the field was on full display.
What’s Left for Green Bay
Without Watson, Love will turn to a group of solid but unspectacular options: Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, Dontayvion Wicks, and Romeo Doubs. While none are tier-1 superstars, they’ve proven capable of making plays when called upon.
Running back Josh Jacobs has also been a reliable receiving option, with 36 catches for 342 yards and a touchdown this season. While Jacobs isn’t Watson in terms of deep-threat potential, his versatility as both a runner and pass-catcher keeps defenses on their toes.
The Eagles’ Task
For the Eagles, Watson’s absence is a clear advantage, but it doesn’t mean they can relax. Green Bay’s remaining skill players—while lacking a game-breaking superstar—are more than capable of putting together big plays and sustaining drives.
Eagles Defense caps incredible 2024 season as NFL’s best unit
Philadelphia’s defense needs to stay disciplined, particularly against Jordan Love, who has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season. The Eagles’ ability to contain Green Bay’s remaining weapons and generate pressure on Love will likely be the deciding factor in this game.

The Packers’ offense is undoubtedly less dangerous without Watson, but this isn’t a group the Eagles can overlook. Green Bay has a knack for finding ways to keep games competitive, and their remaining players will be eager to step up in Watson’s absence.
Still, for the Eagles, this is an opportunity to capitalize and advance deeper into the playoffs. Stay alert, stay sharp, and Go Birds!
