Report: Saints request head coaching interview with Eagles coordinator
With team success, comes the possibility of losing your coordinators to higher positions elsewhere.
This year will be no different for the 14-3 Philadelphia Eagles.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the Saints have requested to interview Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their head coaching vacancy.
The #Saints have requested an interview with #Eagles OC Kellen Moore for their vacant HC position, per me and @MikeGarafolo. Moore's first of this cycle.

After starting the year 2-0, New Orleans lost seven straight games, leading to the dismissal of Dennis Allen.
Darren Rizzi closed out the year as interim head coach, finishing 5-12 and missing the postseason for the fourth consecutive year.
In his first season with the Eagles, Kellen Moore has helped lead Philadelphia’s No. 2 ranked rushing offense behind 2024 rushing champion Saquon Barkley.
Moore’s offense also ranks seventh in scoring (27.2 points/game), eighth in total offense (367.2 yards/game), and first in average time of possession (32:22).
The Eagles are used to other teams poaching their coaches, considering QB Jalen Hurts has had three coordinators in four years since being the starter.
Hopefully, this isn’t a case of coordinators eyeing up job openings during a playoff run. We saw how interviews impacted former DC Jonathan Gannon while Philadelphia was preparing for a Super Bowl in 2022.
Moore is eligible to take virtual interviews starting next week following Wild Card weekend. In my opinion, the NFL should adjust its hiring policies so coaches can’t be contacted until the playoffs are over.
Moore has interviewed for head coaching vacancies in the past but has yet to land a top job.
