Jalen Hurts

All the career-high’s Jalen Hurts set in the Philadelphia Eagles 2024-25 season, despite whatever the haters have been saying

Just say the name Jalen Hurts around a group of your buddies while your hanging out and watching football. I guarantee you, you will get a ton of different responses and reactions. It’s actually shockingly similar to when you ask non-Eagles fans their opinion of Philly sports teams for that matter.

Birdseye view of the 2024-25 regular season for the Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles finished the season 14-3. A very, very impressive record, all things considered. There were many different storylines from this regular season, but I think it’s fair to assume both the fanbase and national media will pinpoint some things as the biggest highlights or takeaways. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, finishing as the #2 seed in the NFC. There were some bumps in the road, most notably the first month of the season. However, once you take a step back and look at the regular season as a whole, what a ride it has been.

I’d have to imagine the two largest and most impactful aspects of this team would be the historical year Saquon Barkley had and the fact that the Eagles went from having one of the worst defenses in the league last season, to having one of, if not the best defense in the NFL this year.

With that said, this is Philadelphia, and even when the team is winning at an historic rate, the conversation and energy will always be shifted towards the quarterback, like I said. Whether you want to play the eye test game or the numbers game, and looking at Jalen Hurts’ season as a whole; I just don’t see how you can view him as a weak link or even someone who didn’t live up to expectations. You may feel like he struggled in the passing game from time to time, but at the end of the day, he had career-high’s in several different categories and ultimately played winning football at the end of the day.

Jalen Hurts Career-High’s in 2024-25 Season

Jalen Hurts set multiple career-high’s this season, all things considered this year. Which is pretty crazy when you take in the fact that this team turned into a heavy, ball-control offense that was feeding Saquon Barkley relentlessly. That in turn would obviously bring down the production in the passing game, as far as a total yardage, but what it didn’t do was hurt Jalen’s efficiency as a passer. Which ultimately is the most important aspect of Jalen’s game if we’re being honest.

Jalen Hurts set multiple career highs

  • 68.7% completion percentage
  • 5.0% touchdown percentage
  • 8.0 passing yards per attempt
  • 103.7 rating

So can everyone just take a massive deep breath and relax? I get the concern from time to time with Jalen holding on to the ball too long for example, but otherwise the microscope this man is held under is entirely unfair. Sometimes I think people expect Hurts to be perfect, and that’s completely unfair. Not even Patrick Mahomes himself is perfect.

Obviously much is made about Hurts being a “tush push merchant”, but again, for the one thousandth time, it’s a part of the game and it’s a product of Jalen being unstoppable in regards to his lower body strength. While he may not have the passing touchdown numbers that other quarterbacks have, he does have a very impressive stat line regardless. He finished the regular season with 32 total touchdowns and just 5 interceptions.

So, do me a favor haters: take that shit to the bank. It’s Playoff time now, and we will really see which quarterbacks are built for it or not. And I personally feel great about the Eagles franchise quarterback in the month of January.
