PSU standout Abdul Carter’s ‘dream’ is to play for his hometown Eagles

By all accounts, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter is a consensus top-five player in this year’s NFL Draft.

He’ll more than likely be the first pass rusher taken, and if he had his wish, he’d end up in Philadelphia playing for his hometown Eagles.

Carter, 21, had an extraordinary 2024 season, earning the title of Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and unanimous All-American honors.

Over 16 games, he recorded an impressive 24 tackles for loss and 12 sacks, leading the FBS in tackles for loss and ranking sixth in sacks. Drawing comparisons to former Penn State star Micah Parsons, Carter shares similarities in wearing No. 11 and excelling in dual roles as an off-ball linebacker and edge-rusher, though his skill set extends far beyond those parallels.

Ranked as the top EDGE player and 10th overall prospect in the 2025 draft class, Carter’s dominance on tape and high potential as a pass-rusher suggest he could climb even higher in the rankings during the pre-draft process.

Obviously, Howie Roseman would have to work some Draft Day magic to make Abdul Carter’s dream a reality. It would take a lot, but given the fact that Josh Sweat’s contract is expiring, Brandon Graham may not be back, and Bryce Huff has been a disappointment, the Eagles will absolutely be in play for a pass rusher this offseason.

If they don’t make a splash move in free agency, moving up for Abdul Carter is not out of the question.
