Shannon Sharpe nails his take on the Eagles offense being good enough to win the Super Bowl
As the Philadelphia Eagles await an NFC Championship matchup against the Washington Commanders, the main question that has plagued headlines across the local and national media outlets is if the Birds’ offense is “good enough” to win a Super Bowl.
There’s definitely issues with the entire conversation surrounding the Eagles offense and frankly, I find it to be stupid and lazy talking point but at the very least, Shannon Sharpe answered the question on today’s episode of First Take.
Sharpe made it loud and clear: Philly’s offense is good enough to win the Super Bowl.
Unlike the usual talking heads who throw out lazy takes, Sharpe actually understands the game. The man played at the highest level and knows what it takes to win.
I would much rather hear from Sharpe, who is the proud owner of three Super Bowl rings, than any other talking head on the radio or television that knows nothing but how to effectively engagement farm, ya know?

On The Money: “Unless you take Saquon away and force Jalen Hurts to throw the ball 30-plus times, I don’t see how you stop the Eagles.”
Wow. It’s almost as if Shannon pointed out that the Eagles should cater their game plan to their strengths, being the offensive line and Saquon Barkley, who was in the MVP race this season and continues to cement himself in the NFL history books on every snap of the football.
A truly easy concept to understand, unless of course, you’re one of those talking heads on TV, who probably thinks the Eagles play Veterans Stadium. Or better yet, one of those people who bring up Birds fans throwing snowballs at Santa Claus.
Everyone and their mother knows the Eagles are going to lean on Saquon Barkley in the NFC Championship Game. But as Shannon Sharpe pointed out, knowing it is one thing—stopping him is a whole different story.
No defense has figured it out all year and I think we can all agree that at this point, it’s going to be nearly impossible to “start now” with just two football games left to be played this season.
Commanders Turnstile Run Defense
Let’s just hope that if the Commanders somehow manage to slow down the Eagles’ ground game, Kellen Moore and the offense know how to adjust in the passing game to keep things rolling. No weather excuses this time, either—it’s supposed to be around 38 degrees and clear, so the conditions are perfect for football.
But honestly, saying the Commanders might slow down the Eagles’ rushing attack feels like a stretch.
Saquon Barkley has already torched them twice this season, racking up 296 yards on 5.4 yards per carry. That’s domination. And it’s not exactly shocking, considering Washington’s run defense has been straight-up trash, giving up 137.5 yards per game—third-worst in the league.
Point being – the Eagles offense is perfectly fine as constructed. Hurts will make plays if needed and everything else will rely heavily on Saquon and the O-Line. There’s literally nothing wrong with that game plan and I truly wish the Commanders “good luck” in stopping the freight train now.
