Where Is Daryl Morey? Bill Simmons hears buzz that Bob Myers could take his job within the 76ers organization

Seriously, where is Daryl Morey? Sixers fans haven’t seen or heard from the guy in what feels like an eternity. Does he even remember he’s still employed?

At this point, it wouldn’t be shocking if Daryl Morey been holed up somewhere, binge-watching “The Office” instead of addressing the glaring issues plaguing this team. Honestly, the Sixers could announce that Hip-Hop, their old mascot, is the new GM, and it’d feel like a win at this point. It would also highlight the fact that ownership is completely ignoring this team but we’ll get into that more later.

Regardless, 76ers’ fans should probably hear from Morey soon- whether it’s good or bad news remains in question. Bill Simmons hopped on his podcast and addressed “rumblings” that Bob Myers, former GM of the Golden State Warriors dynasty and current “special advisor” to Joshua Harris’ Washington Commanders (ew), has emerged as a Daryl Morey replacement.

Bill Simmons: “There’s been some Bob Myers Philly buzz.”

To Be Clear: Bill Simmons likes to scurry out of his hole whenever Philly sports are the topic of conversation to spew out whatever “rat behavior” nonsense to grab headlines. I’ve never seen a guy hit the Philly Engagement Farm so frequently. Disgusting.

However, let’s entertain what he’s saying….

Josh Harris: Enough Already

Now, let’s talk about the man at the top of this circus. Joshua Harris is testing the patience of Philly sports fans like no one else. Between his half-in, half-out vibe with the Sixers and his shiny new toy, the Washington Commanders, Harris feels more like an absentee landlord than a committed owner.

‘Modern Day Paul Revere’ cycles through Philly area to warn everyone that the tyrannical Joshua Harris will bring the Commies to South Philly on Sunday

And here’s the thing: the Commanders aren’t just some side hustle—they’re Harris’ priority right now. That’s an unforgivable sin for a fan base that lives and breathes its teams. Every misstep Harris takes in D.C. only adds fuel to the fire for Sixers fans who are already sour on his leadership.

Daryl Morey is the obvious “Fall Guy” for the Sixers, what about Nick Nurse?

Let’s cut Nick Nurse some slack—for now. Injuries have ravaged this roster, and it’s tough to blame him for not turning water into wine. Nurse has shown glimpses of why he’s considered one of the better coaches in the league, but he’s also stuck trying to make the most of a team that’s constantly held together with duct tape. A pass doesn’t mean he’s untouchable, but compared to Morey’s vanishing act, Nurse is practically an open book.

Bob Myers: The Silver Lining?

Which brings us to Bob Myers. Even if you’re out on Harris and his decision-making, it’s hard to ignore that Myers would be a huge upgrade for the Sixers’ front office. He’s got the pedigree (three-time champion with the Warriors) and the chops to stabilize this mess of a franchise.

But here’s the rub: Myers has been working with Harris on the Commanders side, so it’s hard not to roll your eyes at the idea of another Harris-led move.

That said, if Myers brings even a fraction of what he did in Golden State, it’s still an upgrade over the current status quo—which is, well, no status at all.

Bottom Line: Does Anyone Really Know What’s Up with the Sixers?

The Sixers’ season has been a frustrating mess, from injuries to bad trades to the silence of Daryl Morey. Meanwhile, Joshua Harris seems more interested in building his NFL empire than addressing the glaring dysfunction in Philly.

So yeah, Bob Myers coming to town would be a win, but the Sixers’ problems run a lot deeper than one executive. Until Harris figures out how to juggle his sports properties—or steps aside—Philly fans will be stuck in this endless cycle of hope, disappointment, and searching for answers.

As for Daryl Morey? Maybe he’s already packed his bags. Or maybe he’s in witness protection. Either way, his absence is deafening—and Philly deserves better.
