Canada is now booing the American National Anthem? Talk about biting the hand that feeds
Ah, Canada—the hockey-loving, pancake and maple syrup eating, neighbor to the north that loves to pretend it’s above American influence while mooching off us every chance it gets.
And now, as a bold act of defiance against… trade policies, Canadians have taken to booing the American national anthem before sporting events.

Canada Booing the National Anthem? Look in the Mirror First, You Freaks…
Honestly, I expected better from Canada. I thought they were supposed to be above this kind of petty nonsense—but I guess when you owe so much of your economy and entertainment to the U.S., your only option is to boo your benefactor and hope nobody points out the hypocrisy.
Let’s take a step back here. Who exactly is keeping Canada relevant?
- The NHL? American franchises are carrying the league financially, with U.S. TV deals keeping those Canadian teams afloat.
- The Blue Jays? If it weren’t for American baseball, Toronto would be stuck playing against minor league teams.
- The Raptors? Go ahead and pretend they aren’t playing in an American league, making American money, and thriving off U.S. interest in basketball.
So remind me again—why exactly is Canada booing? If anything, Americans should be the ones booing Canada for contributing absolutely nothing to global sports outside of hockey.
Biting the Hand That Feeds
Here’s the thing—Canada has benefited from riding America’s coattails for decades.
- Their economy? Heavily dependent on U.S. trade.
- Their entertainment industry? Dominated by American TV, music, and movies.
- Their sports teams? Propped up by American revenue streams.
And this is the thanks we get? Booing our national anthem because their government has messed up their trade negotiations? That’s like getting invited to a family dinner, eating for free, and then insulting the host while shoving dessert in your face.
Donald Trump should add more tariffs to Canada and Mexico until they show respect

Side Note: Save your political talking-points for someone else. Obviously, I’m writing this article being a sarcastic asshole. Don’t give me the “MAGA Shills” or whatever else you like to call The Liberty Line over some lighthearted post about a bunch of dorks in Canada.
Anyways, America makes Canada relevant
Be honest—if America suddenly decided to cut ties with Canada, how long before they start begging to be let back in?
- No more American tourists keeping their cities alive.
- No more American sports leagues propping up their teams.
- No more American entertainment dominating their culture
America doesn’t need Canada—Canada needs America and if they keep up this disrespect, maybe it’s time we remind them of that.
Time to Show Some Respect
Booing the American anthem doesn’t hurt us—it just makes Canada look ungrateful. If Canadians want to be taken seriously, maybe they should:
✅ Fix their own trade policies instead of blaming America.
✅ Stop leeching off American sports and entertainment while pretending they don’t need us.
✅ Realize that without the U.S., they’d be completely irrelevant on the world stage.
Until then? They can keep booing, keep pouting, and keep enjoying everything America provides them—because deep down, they know they can’t live without it.
