Carson Wentz speaks on Jalen Hurts, says he’s unsure if he’ll attend 10-year Super Bowl reunion

There are plenty of headlines heading into this year’s Super Bowl. Carson Wentz being the Chiefs backup quarterback certainly isn’t top of mind, but it is an interesting tidbit as we approach Super Bowl Sunday.

When speaking with 94WIP’s Eliot Shorr-Parks, Wentz opened up a bit about his time in Philadelphia, Jalen Hurts’ growth as a quarterback, and the upcoming 10-year reunion for Super Bowl 52.

Wentz seems pretty hesitant here when asked about whether or not he’ll attend the 10-year Super Bowl reunion. In all honesty, I really hope he’s there. I have no ill-will for the guy anymore. In the end, it all worked out in the Eagles favor.

It’s been five years since Carson Wentz was an Eagle and it’s just insane to reflect on everything that has happened since his departure. What the Eagles are right now — perennial Super Bowl contenders year after year — is exactly what we all thought the Wentz-lead Eagles would become. Especially after the 2017 Super Bowl season.

If you would’ve told me then that in less than a decade, the Eagles would reach two more Super Bowls, both without Wentz or Doug Pederson, I would’ve punched you. Imagine telling an Eagles fan in 2017 that the team would reach the Super Bowl again in 2022/2024 with Jalen hurts as their quarterback, with Saquon Barkley as their running back, with AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith as the wideouts, and with Nick Sirianni as the head coach — a coach no one had even heard of at that point.

It’s really fascinating to think about.

Not to mention, trading up to draft Carson Wentz was the first ‘modern day’ Howie Roseman move. It was the first big splash move after being reinstated as the team’s GM.

On that day, it felt like the Eagles were truly building towards something special. Seven years later, that same quarterback is the backup on the team the Eagles will now face for the second time in three years in the Super Bowl. Wild stuff.
