WATCH: AJ Brown channels LeBron James with ‘Silencer’ celebration in Super Bowl LIX
If you’re going to ball out in the Super Bowl, you might as well pay homage to one of the greats. That’s exactly what AJ Brown did after cooking the Chiefs’ secondary for a second-quarter touchdown in the Eagles’ 40-22 Super Bowl blowout.
The celebration? LeBron James’ iconic ‘Silencer’ move. Arms down, knee up, a motion meant to shut down the doubters.

Beautiful really. The only problem was that there weren’t many Chiefs fans left to silence at that point in the game. The Brown tuddy put the Birds up 24-0 before halftime and in hindsight, the game was already over. The Eagles defense had Patrick Mahomes in a blender while the offense was firing on all cylinders.
Brown, fresh off a signature, heated sideline exchange with Nick Sirianni, made sure he added to the offensive onslaught with the touchdown and ‘Silencer’ celebration.
Brown isn’t the first to borrow LeBron’s move. Since James debuted it during his Miami Heat days, athletes across different sports have busted it out at big moments—whether to hype themselves up or taunt an opponent.
I honestly don’t even believe that Brown was taunting the Chiefs in this situation. It was just flexing the pure dominance of the Eagles’ offense in the first half from New Orleans.
James himself brought back the celebration earlier this NBA season after draining a dagger three against the Pelicans. Brown doing it on the biggest stage in football just adds another layer to its legacy.

Say what you want about LeBron James, but that killer mentality he flashes on the basketball court is reminiscent of what AJ Brown brings to the football field. Like him or not, LeBron is one of the best ever and if there’s one thing Philly sports fans love, it’s players who aren’t afraid of the moment.
I think we’re all on the same page in saying that AJ Brown is built for the moment.
