The debut of the new Super Bowl LIX scorebug on the FOX broadcast was a total miss and NFL fans let them hear all about it on social media
Over 24 hours later, I think it’s time we talk about the new scorebug on the FOX broadcast during Super Bowl LIX between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. To put it at nicely as possible, the scorebug was a total dud, and fans watching at home let their voices be heard on social media.
Instead of upgrading the viewing experience, FOX went with a minimalist design that looked like it belonged on an old tube TV from the 1970s. Maybe they were going for a sleek, modern feel—but it came off as lifeless and uninspired.

The first thing that stood out was the fact that there were no team logos. All we got was bland, color-coded abbreviations for “PHI” and “KC” floating on a transparent background.
Did FOX lose the rights to show actual NFL branding? Because that’s what it looked like.
Within seconds of kickoff, fans took to social media to rip it apart.
Literally no one liked the FOX scorebug during Super Bowl LIX

What 6 year old did Fox hire to make the scorebug? Maybe the worst of all-time pic.twitter.com/vEkKwMrx9B

- “This looks like something out of a cheap bootleg broadcast.”
- “Did my TV just switch to ‘retro mode’ by accident?”
- “FOX trying to give us ‘more screen’ by making the scorebug completely unreadable.”
And honestly? They weren’t wrong.
When CBS debuted their new Super Bowl scorebug last year, reactions were mixed, but at least they kept the basics intact. FOX, on the other hand, overcorrected big time.
It was as if someone in the production room saw one tweet about people wanting ‘less clutter’ and took that to mean, “Get rid of everything that makes a scorebug look like a modern sports broadcast.”
Will FOX listen to the feedback and make changes? Probably. The Super Bowl is the most-watched television event of the year, and if the vast majority of viewers are dunking on your graphics, you might want to rethink things.
At the very least, just bring the logos back. Christ almighty lol.
