Jalen Hurts kept his ‘Rocky Steps’ promise in the most epic way possible
Some guys talk a big game. Jalen Hurts just delivers.
When the Eagles drafted him in 2020, Hurts made himself a promise: he wouldn’t set foot on the Rocky steps until he won a championship. No sightseeing, no running up those steps like a tourist, no posing for Instagram—not until he brought a Lombardi Trophy to Philly.
Well, after torching the Chiefs for 293 total yards and three touchdowns en route to a 40-22 Super Bowl beatdown, Hurts finally took that long-awaited walk up the most iconic steps in the city. And in true Jalen fashion, he didn’t make it about himself.

“I told myself when I got drafted that I wouldn’t go to the Rocky steps until I won a championship… and now we here,” Hurts said, standing in front of millions of screaming Eagles fans at the championship parade.
After falling just short two seasons ago in a gut-wrenching Super Bowl loss, Hurts came back more locked in than ever. He put the team on his back, silenced his critics, and led the Eagles to their second Super Bowl in franchise history.
But instead of basking in the moment, Hurts deflected the praise. He took the mic and immediately started thanking his teammates, coaches, front office, and, of course, the fans who had his back all season.
“I want to thank my teammates. … Going to the defensive side, defense wins championships. Lotta love [for] the defense, that front seven, how they played. How those linebackers flew around this year, and how those DBs set the tone.”
And because Philly fans always know what’s up, they made sure to give their MVP his moment. A deafening “MVP! MVP! MVP!” chant rang out as Hurts walked off the stage, taking in every second of the victory he worked so damn hard for.
No gimmicks, no fake speeches, just Jalen Hurts standing on top of the city, where he belongs.
Go Birds.
