Former MLB utilityman Jeff Frye takes a swing at Matt Strahm’s hair, gets absolutely roasted 48 hours later
Former MLB utilityman Jeff Frye decided to step up to the plate this week—not in a baseball sense, but in an ill-advised, unwarranted social media shot at Matt Strahm.
For reasons known only to himself, Frye took a shot at Matt Strahm’s appearance, specifically his long hair, which—if we’re being honest—is about the least offensive thing about Strahm.
It wasn’t prompted, it wasn’t necessary, and it certainly wasn’t well-received and Strahm, never one to back down, promptly lit Frye up with a response 48 hours later, ending Frye’s short time away from complete irrelevancy.
Matt Strahm put Jeff Frye to sleep after he insulted his hair…lol
Jeffrey Jeffrey Jeffrey….. why is it always the middle age men with hairlines running away from them coming after us guys with long hair? I get it, your time with hair is limited but jealousy isn’t a good look on ya sir.

Holy ratio. Congrats to Jeff Frye. I guess we should all take a moment to acknowledge his brief return to baseball relevancy? For roughly 48 glorious hours, Frye wasn’t just a former big leaguer lost in the abyss of baseball’s forgotten past. He was somewhat relevant again by weighing in on the Yankees’ ridiculously boring conversation about their facial hair policy.
Matt Strahm was then forced to put the ex-MLB player back to sleep.
Strahm was right. Jeff Frye might not be the best candidate to judge anyone else’s looks. And when the inevitable internet detectives dug up Frye’s own incredibly unflattering cameo profile picture, well… let’s just say this was not the “win” Frye was hoping for.

If you’re an aging ex-ballplayer who hasn’t been relevant in 20 years, maybe don’t pick a fight with a current player who actually understands how to use the internet. Just a thought.
The Yankees’ outdated grooming policy has been a debate for decades. Some think it’s a symbol of professionalism and tradition. Others think it’s a relic from the ‘70s that has no place in modern sports.
Personally, I literally do not care about a single policy or really, anything that is related to the New York Yankees- especially their grooming policy. That conversation has been going on my entire life and it has never been a good one so maybe everyone just stops talking about it?
Regardless, good on Strahm for putting Jeff Frye back to bed. That’s exactly the type of energy the Phillies’ need as the team gets ready to begin Spring Training in Clearwater, Florida.
