Eagles Free Agency: Zack Baun’s projected market value revealed
Pending free agent linebacker Zack Baun just capped off an incredible 2025 season with a Super Bowl victory, and now it’s time to cash in.
Baun was one of many inspirational stories in Philadelphia this year: signed as a potential depth piece last spring and emerged as one of the league’s top inside linebackers.
After playing primarily off the edge in New Orleans, Baun was given a chance to play off-ball once Eagles DC Vic Fangio saw his tape. The gamble paid off, as Baun finished as the league’s highest-graded linebacker per PFF.
Baun has certainly outplayed the one-year, $3.5M deal he signed last offseason. Although he hopes to remain in Philadephia, Baun is excited for the free agency process this time around.
“I’m curious, I don’t know what it’ll look like, honestly,” Baun said, via PHLY’s Zach Berman. “Hopefully it’s here. I love this place. I appreciate what they’ve done for my career and my family – just everything. I got a lot of options to weigh.”
According to Spotrac, Baun’s projected market value is roughly $9.7M/year.
A three-year, $29.2M deal would make him the 11th highest-paid player at his position, just ahead of Cincinnati’s Logan Wilson.
The Eagles have historically refused to pay linebackers top-dollar, but GM Howie Roseman broke away from tradition when he signed RB Saquon Barkley.
Perhaps he will do so again for a linebacker who changed Philadelphia’s defense.
In his first year with the Eagles, Baun was a first-team All-Pro and Defensive Player of the Year finalist. He tallied 151 tackles (11 for loss), 3.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, four pass breakups, one interception, and five QB hits.
Not to mention his interception on Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX.
At 28 years old, this could be Zack Baun’s one chance at a lucrative contract. He should be priority No. 1 for Roseman and the Eagles.
“It’s revived my love for the game, honestly,” Baun said of his year in Philly. “I think it was dwindling there in New Orleans for a while. It just revived my love for this and the passion I have for this game. It’s not about the Super Bowl win. It is but it isn’t.
"Imma get one."
