Eagles among top destinations for Pro Bowl safety in free agency
The Eagles just traded CJ Gardner-Johnson to Houston, which means they’re now in the market for a new starting safety.
Sydney Brown will probably be given an opportunity to get the job, but there’s no doubt Howie Roseman will bring in some competition for him. There are a few options out there in the free agent pool, including former All-Pro Justin Simmons, who played under Vic Fangio in Denver.
On Tuesday, veteran Simmons revealed that Philadelphia is among his top choices in free agency, citing his connections to the team’s coaching staff.
Simmons on potentially coming to the Eagles
“Man, having a chance to reunite with [defensive coordinator] Vic [Fangio], and then also defensive backs coach Christian Parker,” Simmons said on the Talkin’ Ball podcast. “There’s a lot of good things about Philly… To have an opportunity to go play in Philly, especially reuniting with [those guys], it’s high on the list.”

Simmons, who spent the 2024 season with the Atlanta Falcons, previously played eight years with the Denver Broncos, including three under Fangio when he served as head coach. The four-time second-team All-Pro thrived in Fangio’s system, tallying 14 interceptions during that span.
The Eagles were linked to Simmons last offseason when Fangio joined Nick Sirianni’s staff as defensive coordinator. Now, with Philadelphia looking to solidify its secondary, a reunion could make perfect sense.
