Give It Up: Patriots media, fans still believe AJ Brown will end up in New England
Will Patriots fans ever give up their AJ Brown fantasy? I mean seriously, it’s getting kind of weird at this point.
The latest New England media member to go down this rabbit hole is Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard, who wrote a column on Monday speculating how the Patriots can get their hands on Brown.
Patriots media is doing their fans a disservice with this kind of stuff. Their fans have been gaslit into believing this can and will actually happen. All because of Mike Vrabel and his connection to Brown, of course. Like that matters more than being on a team fresh off a Super Bowl win. Did anyone listen to AJ Brown after the Super Bowl victory? He’s not satisfied. And he certainly doesn’t want to start over with a second-year quarterback on a rebuilding franchise.
Here’s Greg Bedard’s reasoning on this Brown to Patriots nonsense:
“Just like last offseason, I still believe in my bones the Patriots will find that receiver via trade, among the likes of AJ Brown and Brandon Aiyuk,” Boston Sports Journal’s Greg Bedard wrote Monday. “The latter is the best option given the firesale in San Francisco, but he won’t be ready until at least midseason after major knee surgery.”

The Patriots have reportedly inquired about A.J. Brown’s availability, according to NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry. Typically, if trade discussions are serious, they escalate quickly. If a deal were going to happen, it likely would have by now.
Clearing cap space by letting mid-tier players walk doesn’t mean the Eagles are about to part ways with A.J. Brown. The speculation is baseless.
Frankly, I’d love to stop writing these articles — I feel like I’ve covered this same rumor multiple times this offseason. Patriots fans, it’s time to move on and focus on the draft. Maybe your future WR1 is there, but I can say with certainty: it won’t be A.J. Brown.
