Ceedee Lamb is not happy about NFL crackdown on ‘nose wipe’ celebration

Dallas Cowboys star Ceedee Lamb is no stranger to the spotlight—and that includes how he celebrates under it.

Heading into the 2025 NFL season, he’ll need to leave one of his signature moves behind. The league has announced a renewed emphasis on sportsmanship, with stricter guidelines that include a ban on Lamb’s go-to “nose wipe” celebration.

The NFL Tightens Up on Touchdown Flair

In a memo sent to all 32 teams, the NFL outlined a fresh list of prohibited celebrations as part of its initiative to promote sportsmanship. Among the gestures flagged? The “nose wipe” Lamb often flashes after big plays. The league now considers it a “violent gesture” due to alleged links with gang symbolism.

It’s not the first time the NFL has drawn heat for appearing to suck the joy out of the game—critics have long dubbed it the “No Fun League.” But this latest move has especially struck a nerve among fans and players who view celebrations as a harmless, creative outlet.

Lamb took the high road in his response. While clearly not thrilled with the change, he let fans know via X (formerly Twitter) that he’s ready to adapt. “Plenty in mind,” he wrote, alluding to a fresh arsenal of celebrations we may see rolled out this fall.

Though forced to pivot, Lamb doesn’t lack opportunities to shine. Despite battling injuries last season, he racked up 1,194 receiving yards and six touchdowns in just 15 games. With another strong year ahead, there’s no doubt he’ll have plenty of moments to debut a new signature move.

Whether it’s a fresh dance, a subtle nod, or a viral-worthy celebration, Ceedee Lamb has made it clear: he’s not done entertaining fans—he’s just getting started.
