Tom McCarthy rips Orlando Arcia for flipping his bat after getting walked
Nobody in Philadelphia likes Orlando Arcia, including Phillies play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy.
In the bottom of the sixth during Tuesday’s game in Atlanta, Zack Wheeler walked Arcia to load the bases in a one-run ball game. In classic, tone deaf Arcia fashion, he flipped his bat while walking to first base — as if he had just hit a moon shot to take the lead.

McCarthy was not very happy about this because, for one, Orlando Arcia is an enemy of the state. Secondly, he sucks at baseball and is currently hitting .133 on the season.
The Phillies announcer let him have it. I cannot for the life of me find the audio of this, but here’s the play:

This is exactly why the Phillies are true contenders and the Braves are not. If you could boil it down to one singular moment, this would be it. We’re in the first month of the season, Atlanta’s season is already on the brink of collapse, and this idiot is so excited to finally get on base that he did a bat flip.
Disgusting work from Arcia here, but kudos to Tom McCarthy for calling him out on his bullshit.
