76ers have slight chance to land first overall pick in NBA Draft

Now that the Philadelphia 76ers have officially locked in the fifth-worst record in the NBA, we all have to patiently wait to see how the Draft Lottery plays out.

First things first, the Sixers are not guaranteed their first-round pick this year. If it happens to fall anywhere outside the top-six, the pick conveys to OKC. Philly has a 64% chance of keeping their first-round pick, 36% chance it goes to the Thunder. The odds are in our favor, but it’s certainly not a foregone conclusion.

The Draft Lottery as a whole is not a foregone conclusion either. The Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards hold the best odds to land the first overall selection at 14%. Landing the first overall pick also means landing the white boy, Cooper Flagg.

Philadelphia has the fifth-best odds at securing the first overall pick. Here’s a look at the highest odds to get the No. 1 selection:

1. Utah Jazz: 14%

2. Washington Wizards: 14%

3. Charlotte Hornets: 14%

4. New Orleans Pelicans: 12.5%

5. Philadelphia 76ers: 10.5%

Numbers don’t lie here — the 76ers have a very slim chance to get Cooper Flagg. But by no means will that stop me from yearning for the White Boy.

Flagg is without question the top prospect in this year’s class and would give the Sixers a real shot at re-setting their team after such a disastrous season. If the NBA Deep State plays any role in all of this, giving Flagg to a top market like Philadelphia makes sense. None of the other teams vying for that top pick have huge markets.

We have until May 12 to convince the NBA to do this. It may be our only hope at a better future.
