Joe Giglio says Eagles should draft Alabama QB Jalen Milroe in second-round
It’s the Monday before the NFL Draft, which means Joe Giglio is back with another brain-dead Eagles take just to get everyone riled up.
At this point, anytime you see Giglio’s name attached to a take, you should automatically take it with a grain of salt. Nine times out of ten, it’s one of the dumbest things you’ll read all week.
This time, on WIP’s midday show, Giglio said the Eagles should take Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the second round if he’s still on the board.
Another Giglio Eagles take you shouldn’t pay any mind to:
“Before you say Joe what are you talking about—the similarities between Jalen Milroe and Jalen Hurts are too much for me to ignore. I’ve seen comps to Lamar Jackson. I’ve seen comps to Jalen Hurts…[Milroe and Hurts] have a relationship, [Hurts has] helped him out… If Jalen Milroe is on the board—and I don’t think he will be—but if he’s on the board when the Eagles select in the second round I would take him and make him the backup quarterback and developmental quarterback behind Jalen Hurts in a heartbeat.”
Here’s why this doesn’t make sense:
- The Eagles have legitimate needs to address and quarterback isn’t one of them
- Tanner McKee has proven to be a very good backup with high upside
- It’s not similar to 2020 at all. Carson Wentz was coming off a disappointing end to his season in 2019, Hurts is coming off a Super Bowl MVP.
I could keep going but you get the point. Giglio is just trying to get clicks.
