Phillies prospect Eduardo Tait is absolutely dominating the Florida State League
If you’re looking for the next Phillies prospect to blow up, circle the name Eduardo Tait—and do it in permanent marker. The 18-year-old catcher from Panama is crushing it for Single-A Clearwater right now. On Wednesday, he blasted his sixth homer of the year in the first inning—again.
Eduardo Tait crushes 110.9 mph first-inning homer
That’s back-to-back games with a first-inning bomb, and he wasn’t done. Tait finished with three hits, an RBI double, and scored twice to cap off another eye-opening performance.
It’s easy to forget that this kid has only played 48 games of affiliated baseball. You’d never know it. Eduardo Tait is now rocking an .871 OPS with 11 extra-base hits and 18 RBIs in just 20 games. Oh, and his six home runs are tied for the most in the Florida State League.
Eduardo Tait’s approach is mature beyond his years, he’s barreling balls with regularity, and defensively he’s held his own behind the plate. It’s no wonder he’s already slotted as the Phillies’ No. 4 prospect and ranked No. 89 overall by MLB Pipeline.
The catching position in Philly is obviously locked up at the big league level, but if Tait keeps progressing like this, we’re looking at a future stud. Just 18 years old, already mashing, and showing no signs of slowing down.
You wanted a Phillies breakout prospect? You’ve got one. Eduardo Tait season is here.
