Cristopher Sánchez shoves, Taijuan Walker K’s seven in three innings, Phillies blank Rays, 7-0
Turner, Stott, and Harper drive in six; Walker racks up rare 3-inning save in Phillies 7-0 win.
The Phillies are heating up and Cristopher Sánchez is officially dealing.
The lefty was nearly untouchable Wednesday night, allowing just one hit over six scoreless innings in a dominant 7-0 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. With the offense clicking again and Sánchez lowering his ERA to 2.89, the Phillies improved to 8-2 since April 25.

Cristopher Sánchez Sends a Message
Cristopher Sánchez (4-1) gave up a single in the first inning to Junior Caminero and that was it. Tampa Bay never got a runner past first base the rest of the night. Sánchez worked around three walks, struck out five, and looked completely in control from the jump.
Cristopher Sánchez paint job
Fittingly, he struck out Curtis Mead—who the Rays once acquired in exchange for Sánchez—on a nasty 1-2 sinker in the fourth inning. That was the exclamation point. In three career starts against his former team, Sánchez now owns a 0.50 ERA. That trade? Advantage, Phillies.
Phillies Offense Breaks Loose in the 4th
Trea Turner started things off with a laser solo homer in the third—his second of the year—and the Phils broke it open one inning later.
Johan Rojas executed a textbook squeeze to score J.T. Realmuto, who had reached on a hit-by-pitch, and then the floodgates opened. Turner, Stott, and Harper ripped three straight hits, capped off by Harper’s two-run double that chased Rays starter Shane Baz from the game.
Turner, Stott, and Harper each finished with two RBIs. Realmuto was the only Phillies starter without a hit, though he exited in the seventh with a foot contusion after fouling a ball off himself.
Kyle Schwarber’s Streak Rolls On
Kyle Schwarber singled in the first inning, pushing his on-base streak to 42 games—the longest active streak in Major League Baseball. Quietly, he’s been one of the most consistent bats in the lineup all season.
Taijuan Walker Closes it Out—With Style
With the game in hand, Taijuan Walker got the rare three-inning save, retiring nine of the 10 batters he faced while striking out seven. Yes, you read that right—seven Ks in three innings. It was Walker’s first career save and he looked electric.

What’s Next?
The Phillies will look to finish the sweep Thursday night behind ace lefty Jesús Luzardo (3-0, 1.94 ERA). He’ll go toe-to-toe with Rays right-hander Ryan Pepiot (2-4, 4.23 ERA).
This team is cooking, and with a soft May schedule ahead, the Phillies might just be hitting their stride at the perfect time.
