Draymond Green accuses NBA media of pushing ‘Angry Black Man’ narrative
Anyone who watches the NBA knows Draymond Green is a total wildcard. When he checks into a game, you never know what you’re going to get. He might lock in and play suffocating defense — or he might roundhouse kick someone. It’s a complete crapshoot.
Despite constantly feeding into the stereotype with his on-court behavior, Draymond is now fed up with the narrative. After Thursday’s loss to the Timberwolves, he lashed out at the media, saying he’s tired of being labeled an “angry Black man.”
Draymond Green is mad people are calling out his bullshit
I mean, I don’t think the reporter was calling him an “angry Black man” here — and I don’t think that’s the agenda anyone’s really pushing either. People just want Draymond Green to stop doing wild shit on the court. Stop throwing a fit every time you get called for a foul and just play ball. It’s pretty simple.
It’s not like there’s a shortage of evidence either. I don’t even watch NBA basketball that much, and I still know Draymond’s unhinged. That alone tells you how often his antics steal the spotlight.
Honestly, I forget just how insane he is until I see montages like this:
Just because you’re a Black man who physically attacks people on the court doesn’t mean people automatically label you an “angry Black man.” You’re just a dirty player.
There have been dirty players throughout NBA history. Bill Laimbeer was infamous for it — and that’s exactly how people remember him. Not as an “angry white man,” just a guy who played dirty. No one’s going to remember Draymond Green as an angry Black man either. They’ll remember him as the enforcer of the Warriors’ dynasty — and yeah, also a very dirty player.
It comes with the territory. If you don’t like the label, stop swinging on people or putting opponents in headlocks. Don’t play the victim when every defensive “highlight” of yours includes, at best, an eye poke — and at worst, throwing someone to the floor and stomping on them.
