Kyle Schwarber 2 Home Runs Guardians

Kyle Schwarber stays hot, blasts two home runs as Phillies blank Guardians 3-0 behind Zack Wheeler gem

On Sunday night in Cleveland, Kyle Schwarber reminded everyone why he’s one of the scariest hitters on the planet, blasting two home runs to tie Aaron Judge atop the MLB leaderboard while stretching his on-base streak to an absurd 46 games.

Behind him, Zack Wheeler shoved like an ace, throwing seven shutout innings as the Phillies blanked the Guardians 3-0, polishing off a dominant 5-1 road trip that has them playing their best baseball of the season.

Schwarber opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo rocket off Luis Ortiz, then later put the game to bed in the eighth with a two-run moonshot off Tim Herrin. The second bomb traveled 397 feet to center, and it felt like the moment the Guardians knew the night was over.

It also marked Kyle Schwarber’s 32nd career multi-homer game, and when this guy gets locked in, pitchers across the league start sweating bullets.

While Schwarber was doing damage at the plate, Zack Wheeler quietly shoved. The Phillies ace delivered a vintage seven-inning gem, giving up just three hits, two walks, and punching out eight.

It was Wheeler’s third straight win, matching his longest outing of the season, and once again he made it look effortless. He was in full control and sliced through the Cleveland lineup that rarely even sniffed second base.

Phillies Game Notes:

The Phillies clung to a 1-0 lead in the eighth when Herrin entered for Cleveland. Bryson Stott worked a walk, and after two quick outs, Kyle Schwarber came up and delivered the knockout punch. No dramatics, no frills—just a middle-middle heater, and Schwarber didn’t miss it..

Kyle Schwarber’s On Base Streak:

  • 46 straight games on base (career-long)
  • 16 homers, 37 RBI, 33 runs during the streak
  • Streak began Sept. 23, 2024, right after a game vs. the Mets where he went hitless

Schwarber is playing like the best hitter in baseball not named Aaron Judge.

The Phillies are now 11-3 since bottoming out at .500 on April 25.

Up Next for the Phillies

The Phillies head back to Citizens Bank Park for a six-game homestand, starting Monday night against the St. Louis Cardinals. It’ll be Cristopher Sánchez (4-1, 2.89 ERA) vs. Matthew Liberatore (3-3, 3.07 ERA).
