Doris Burke, for all the hate she gets, has never really bothered me in the broadcast booth. But on Monday night, she almost had a generational slip-up.
She was on the call for Game 4 between the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics. It was a hell of a game so everyone was all jazzed up the entire time. Towards the end of the contest, Doris Burke referred to the Knicks as, “The New York KnickerBockers.” Reading it, it sounds fine. But say it out loud, and you see why some people had to do a double take.

I get it, she didn’t actually say The Word, but it sure sounds like The Word! Probably shouldn’t put yourself in a situation like that, you’re just begging for people on social media to roast you.
