Birds Wing Solar Eruption

GO BIRDS: Scientists claim that Earth could be hit by a 600,000 mile-wide ‘Bird Wing’ solar eruption as soon as tomorrow

GO BIRDS – It wouldn’t be a normal week on Earth without a new reason to stare into the void and realize how tiny and fragile we are.

This time, it’s coming from the sun. You know, that big ball of nuclear fire in the sky that keeps us alive but also could swat us into cosmic dust like we’re nothing more than a fly buzzing around its head.

According to the astronomers—people who actually know this stuff—a 600,000-mile-long solar eruption shaped like a bird wing peeled off the sun this week, and part of it might sideswipe Earth tomorrow.

They’re calling it a “glancing blow.”

GO BIRDS: Scientists claim that Earth could be hit by a 600,000 mile-wide ‘Bird Wing’ solar eruption as soon as tomorrow

Source – On Tuesday, astronomers watched as a vast ‘bird wing’ eruption sent waves of superheated plasma surging across the sun’s northern hemisphere.

At over 600,000 miles long (one million km), the filament of solar material was more than twice as long as the distance from the Earth to the moon.

Now, scientists predict that part of this filament eruption could hit Earth tomorrow.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, aurora chaser Jure Atanackov predicted that the full force of this eruption could trigger a severe or even extreme geomagnetic storm, the highest level on official rating systems.

Stunning video recorded by NASA’s solar observation satellites shows the moment that filaments of plasma 75 times larger than Earth peeled away from the sun in a pair of sweeping ‘wings’.

Most of the material was shot out of the sun’s north pole, so it will mostly avoid Earth.

However, astronomers say that Earth will probably receive a glancing blow from the wake of the passing storm.

GO BIRDS…?

This thing is twice the distance from the Earth to the moon, by the way. It’s not some pebble NASA can send Bruce Willis up to nuke. It’s a tongue of superheated plasma that makes Yellowstone look like a sparkler.

Astronomers are already predicting the storm could trigger a severe or extreme geomagnetic event, the kind that could fry satellites, blackout power grids, and turn your iPhone into a fancy paperweight.

But the experts are telling us not to panic. It’s just going to “mostly” miss Earth.

That’s reassuring. If I learned anything from disaster movies and reading too much conspiracy Twitter at 2 a.m., this is exactly the kind of thing they’d tell us if it was, in fact, time to bend over and kiss the planet goodbye.

And let’s not forget about the underground bunkers the super-rich and powerful are supposedly hiding in, according to people like Catherine Austin Fitts. The rest of us? We’re out here in line at Wawa wondering if we should buy an extra tin of Zyns to enjoy during the apocalypse.

Honestly, if it’s my time, getting vaporized in a millisecond by a cosmic plasma slap isn’t the worst way to go. Beats sitting through another Eagles training camp injury report or watching the Flyers rebuild, again.

All I’m asking is to make it through the Sixers’ draft lottery. After that, let’s roll the dice with the sun because honestly, if this is how it ends, I’m fine with it. Better to get flash-fried by a solar plasma cannon than endure another start from Aaron Nola.

Been a good run, folks. Go Birds. If you see me standing on my roof tonight with a lawn chair, a bag of shrooms and a bottle of bourbon, just mind your business.
