HOLY OVERPAY: Brock Purdy breaks the bank with a ridiculous contract extension, gets absolutely roasted online

Brock Purdy just got the bag, and NFL fans wasted no time handing out L’s to the 49ers front office. San Francisco handed Purdy a massive five-year, $265 million extension with a jaw-dropping $181 million guaranteed.

Brock Purdy: $53M – HOLY OVERPAY

If you’re wondering where Super Bowl LIX MVP and World Champion quarterback Jalen Hurts is on that list, our guy makes a smooth $51 million a year. Obviously, Hurts is leagues above everyone on the highest paid list outside of Burrow and Allen, who are right there with him.

Brock Purdy is getting $53 million per year. What a world…lol

The deal averages $53 million per year, officially locking Purdy in as one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. Social media responded exactly how you’d expect. The word “overpaid” started trending on X, quickly followed by the phrase “holy overpay.”

Look, I hate the San Francisco 49ers with all of my heart but if we want to be serious for a second, there’s no debate that Purdy has exceeded all expectations since being drafted as Mr. Irrelevant.

He’s led the 49ers deep into the playoffs, including a Super Bowl appearance, and proved he can run Kyle Shanahan’s offense at a high level.

Either way, now San Francisco is paying him like he’s Patrick Mahomes, and the internet isn’t buying it – rightfully so.

This move was always coming. Purdy has earned the right to be their franchise QB. The 49ers made their choice, and this is the going rate for quarterbacks in today’s NFL.

Fans don’t have to like it, and judging by the reaction, they definitely don’t. The deal is done. Purdy is paid. Now he has to go prove he’s worth it. (He’s Not)
