Kevin Durant Joel Embiid Sixers Trade Draft Night

ESPN believes the Sixers are expected to target Kevin Durant in a trade package on draft night

God…if you’re reading this. I promise you, I will repent for all of my sins, just please bring Kevin Durant to Philadelphia on NBA Draft night so he can save Philadelphia 76ers basketball from eternal hell.

Thank you.

According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to be active in trade talks ahead of next month’s NBA Draft, and Kevin Durant’s name has reportedly popped up as a potential target.

What should the Sixers do with the No. 3 Pick? Trade options, Ace Bailey, and why the NBA Draft Lottery is an absolute joke

Kevin Durant a future Hall of Famer for the non-hoopers, could be the next big swing for a Sixers team that’s desperate to get Joel Embiid a co-star who can actually stay on the court in May.

“He’s really unstoppable.” — Kevin Durant on Joel Embiid

The proposed framework is obviously a package centered around the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 Draft… and Paul George, should he opt in or sign-and-trade.

Daryl Morey should 100% push all the chips in for one last big window.

I don’t want to hear one damn thing about how Kevin Durant fitting into the Philadelphia 76ers roster is “complicated” so please, save that bullshit for someone else.

Kevin Durant is still elite — he averaged 26.6 points this season and can get buckets from anywhere — I do not care that he’s turning 37 in September and hasn’t exactly been the picture of health in recent years.

Trust me, I understand that the Philadelphia 76ers are already dealing with a banged-up Joel Embiid. Literally no one knows what’s wrong with the big fella and the reports coming out of the organization are beyond vague. It’s okay to ask if gambling on Kevin Durant coming to Philly to pair up with Embiid, who’s always hurt, is the right move.

I understand why people would think that adding a veteran like Kevin Durant would be a short term solution and possibly destroy this team’s future.

Guess what? Don’t care.

We have been waiting around for the Philadelphia 76ers to do something for far too long to worry about the future. The future was supposed to be here and to date, it hasn’t arrived so if you really think about it, who gives a shit?

If the Sixers believe Embiid has one more dominant run left in him, then pairing him with Durant is a championship-level roster. It’s not hard to imagine Tyrese Maxey thriving as the third option behind two Hall of Famers.

The question is whether Phoenix wants to blow it up — and whether Durant even wants out. There’s been no formal trade request from KD, but rival execs are keeping tabs, especially after the Suns flamed out early in the playoffs again.

For now, it’s just smoke but if the Basketball Gods are listening to the cursed city of Philadelphia, they would light the fire.

Update: Lauri Markkanen also mentioned. I’ll stick with KD but sure
