Sixers trading No. 3 overall pick for Jalen Brunson? Eliot Shorr-Parks floats insane trade after Knicks Fire Thibodeau

In case you missed it, the Knicks fired Tom Thibodeau today after falling to the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals — because apparently making it further than the Sixers have in two decades still isn’t enough job security in New York.

Naturally, within hours of the news, Philly’s very own trade rumor wizard Eliot Shorr-Parks decided this was the perfect time to throw out the idea of the Sixers targeting Jalen Brunson in a trade. Yes, Jalen Brunson, the heart and soul of the Knicks. Let’s talk about it.

ESP’s insane Sixers trade idea

Honestly? I’m in. If we’re throwing out delusional trade ideas like that, let’s go all in.

Maxey. McCain. Brunson. Hell, toss Quentin Grimes in there for vibes. Let’s run four point guards in the starting lineup. Call it “The Process: Reloaded.” The NBA’s first ever small-ball experiment where no one is above 6’4.

It’s the perfect mirror to how the Process started—except instead of hoarding big men like Pokémon (Embiid, Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor), now we hoard point guards like it’s a March Madness backcourt dream team.

Sam Hinkie would be furious he didn’t think of this first.

Let’s just have fun with a hypothetical trade here…

Here’s the only way the Knicks would even answer the phone for this: Maxey, No. 3 pick, Joel Embiid, and Saquon Barkley back on the Giants. And even then, they’d hang up just to block our number.

Jalen Brunson is literally the best thing to happen to New York sports in a decade. Do we really think Leon Rose is sitting in his office thinking, “we just made the Conference Finals for the first time since 2000, let’s fire our head coach and trade our best player.”

ESP must’ve gotten a new trade machine subscription and wanted to see how far he could push it before someone calls the authorities. And honestly, I don’t blame him, it’s a very slow news cycle right now in Philly sports.

Side note: This Franchise Has Ruined My Brain and I Needed to Get This Out

Look, I don’t even know what’s real anymore. Between Daryl Morey pretending the CBA doesn’t apply to him, Joel Embiid’s surgery “updates”, and watching Knicks fans celebrate a competent basketball team, I’ve completely lost touch with reality.

This blog isn’t really about Jalen Brunson. It’s about the fact that I’ve been mentally broken by the last decade of Sixers basketball.

I read ESP’s tweet and my first thought wasn’t “this is insane” — it was “hmm… well, if the Knicks are mad about Thibs…”

That’s not normal. I am not well. And you aren’t either if you’ve made it this far into this blog.
