WATCH: Jared McCain Prank Calls Kyle Lowry, Gets Absolutely Cooked by the Sixers Vet
TikTok star and arguable NBA Rookie of the Year—had it not been for a season-ending injury—Jared McCain took the opportunity to hop on yet another social media trend. On Tuesday, he joined the viral challenge where you call someone and randomly wish them “good morning” or “good night.”
McCain’s target? None other than 17-year NBA vet and fellow Sixer Kyle Lowry, who did not hold back.

Imagine this: You’re riding around on a golf cart mid-round, probably lining up your next shot, and your phone starts ringing. It’s a rookie who just got to the league, calling to say:
“I just want to say good morning and I love you, man!”
That’s exactly what happened when Jared McCain decided to hit up Kyle Lowry out of nowhere, camera rolling and all.
Wholesome, right?
Well… not if you’re calling a guy from North Philly who’s been in the NBA longer than you’ve had a driver’s license.
Kyle Lowry: “It’s almost afternoon, and don’t call my phone, bro.”
Lowry didn’t even hesitate. A straight flamethrower from the golf cart directed at Jared McCain.
“It’s almost afternoon, and don’t call my phone, bro.”
That alone would’ve been enough to shut down any normal rookie. But Kyle kept going:
“You still gotta play about 55 more games before you’re not a rookie.”
SHEESH.
That’s a Philly vet right there. This wasn’t just a roast—it was a calculated veteran reality check. An awesome jab to motivate McCain heading into a season all of us Sixers fans are praying goes relatively normal…
All jokes aside, this is exactly why I want Kyle Lowry back on this Sixers squad next year.
The guy gets it. He’s played at the highest level, he’s a champion, and most importantly—he knows how to mentor. This isn’t some washed-up vet stealing a roster spot. Lowry actually adds value, both on the floor and in the locker room.
You think Jared McCain’s not learning from stuff like this? You think Tyrese Maxey didn’t benefit from having Lowry around during the playoff run? Please.
Keep the guy around. Every young team needs an old head who can talk trash with a smile and still pull up from 30 if you sleep on him. Well, maybe not 30, but maybe like 7 points, 5 charges, and 5 assists. Throw a few fail baits in there and you got Kyle Lowry. Villanova and Philadelphia basketball legend.
