Strong Disagree: Jelly Roll says Titans losing AJ Brown didn’t hurt as much as Derrick Henry
“Derrick, without hesitation.” That’s what Tennessee native and country music legend-in-his-own-mind Jelly Roll had to say when asked which Titans star hurt more to lose: Derrick Henry or AJ Brown.
Sorry, Jelly. You’re wrong. Loud and wrong.
And while we’re at it — Morgan Wallen’s the best country artist out right now anyway. I’ve been bumping “I’m the Problem” every single day since it dropped. That album’s all gas, no skips. Jelly Roll’s talented, no doubt, but I can’t even remember the last time he dropped a legit banger. The only song I know from him is probably “Need a Favor”, with all due respect.

Jelly Roll believes losing Derrick Henry hurt more than losing A.J. Brown.

Since getting shipped to Philadelphia in 2022, A.J. Brown has played in two Super Bowls, won one, and dropped three straight 1,000-yard seasons like it’s just part of his morning routine.
Not only is he the best wide receiver in the NFL, but I’d argue he’s one of the few, truly franchise altering players in the league. The Eagles went from a .500 team to a Super Bowl contender as soon as he put the Midnight Green on.
PFF ranks AJ Brown as the best WR in the NFL
And the numbers back it up. Last season, no wide receiver in football was more dominant against single coverage than A.J. Brown. Not Justin Jefferson. Not Ja’Marr Chase. Not even your fantasy football darling Amon-Ra St. Brown.
From 2022 through 2024, A.J. posted the highest grade in the NFL when facing single coverage — a near-perfect 97.0. That’s not just elite. That’s undeniable. He doesn’t just beat corners — he bullies them. He breaks them. He makes defensive coordinators question their existence.
Henry’s a Beast — But he’s not Saquon Barkley or AJ Brown
Derrick Henry is without a doubt a monster. He’s going to Canton. But here’s the cold truth:
- Running backs don’t win you Super Bowls anymore. Unless you’re Saquon Barkley
- The Eagles paid A.J. Brown and immediately turned into the most dangerous offense in football.
- Meanwhile, the Titans are flipping through QB prospects like it’s Tinder.
- Derick Henry couldn’t even lift the Ravens stacked roster to a SB
Timing Doesn’t Matter When You Trade Away Greatness
People say Henry’s departure hit harder because it came at the same time as Mike Vrabel’s firing. Whatever.
Letting A.J. Brown walk in the middle of his prime because you didn’t want to pay him? That’s not bad timing. That’s franchise malpractice.
The Titans lost a once-in-a-generation talent because they lowballed him. And now? AJ Brown is the best wide receiver in the league playing for a Super Bowl repeat. That has to slap the Titans front office in face far more than the Derick Henry departure.
