Gavin Newsom’s office fired off one of the dumbest Philly takes of the year this weekend

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or wisely taking a phone break), you’ve probably seen the clips of the absolute chaos going on in Los Angeles right now — full-blown street clashes over ICE trying to deport illegal immigrants, protestors fighting with federal agents, the whole deal.

So here comes Gavin Newsom’s press office, jumping on Twitter and — for whatever reason — dragging Philly sports fans into it. I guess when you’ve got chaos unfolding in your own streets, obviously the logical move is to compare it to… Eagles fans partying after an NFC Championship win.

Make it make sense.

Okay so let’s make sure we’re all on the same page because clearly, Gavin Newsom’s press office has zero clue what’s going on inside their own state, along with whatever is happening in Philadelphia.

California is an absolute shit hole right now. Residents are fleeing the state. Their cities are overrun with real problems with crime, drug use, homelessness, political unrest — and in this case, literal riots over immigration enforcement.

There is ZERO reason to compare what’s happening there to Philly fans climbing poles and singing “Fly Eagles Fly” after a win. We’re talking about professional sports celebrations. Not major national security issues.

Philly Fans Right Now:

For the record, if Pete Hegseth actually wanted to deploy the Marines and National Guard to Philly for an Eagles celebration, I think that would just add to the party.

All are welcome to celebrate, just make sure they’re ready to toss back a few beers and belt out some “Go Birds” chants with the rest of us. Obviously, in Philly, these are celebrations not battles in the streets over government policy.

It’s laughable that anyone would even put these things in the same sentence. We grease poles to stop people from climbing them, we don’t need armored vehicles rolling through Broad Street.

Gavin Newsom and the state of California should focus on its own mess before tossing weak comparisons at Philly sports fans, who. are just out here trying to enjoy a parade.
