Ike Reese calls out Eagles narrative around trading for a superstar like T.J. Watt or Trey Hendrickson

Let’s get this out of the way real quick: if the Philadelphia Eagles don’t make some big, flashy trade for a “superstar” defensive player this summer… guess what?

We’re still the best team in the NFL. And I’m with Ike Reese 1,000% on this one.

Watch: Ike Reese calls out Eagles narrative

BINGO. The former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker hit the nail on the head with this one.

The main point here being whether it’s Eagles fans or just people who just saw this team absolutely shit pump the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, all of sudden think the Birds need to make a giant splash trade like this to be considered the best team in the NFL.

And in this case on the defensive side of the ball. Sure we may have lost some pieces on defense, but the main pieces on D are still in place. And they are the ones who curb-stomped Patrick Mahomes on the biggest stage. Make it make sense.

“Jaire Alexander chooses the Philadelphia Eagles”

The point Ike Reese made right away in the video really resonated with me and it should you too. Instead of Howie Roseman having to get rid of serious draft capital or assets, why not a star player just decide to come here?

Insert Jaire Alexander.

The Eagles don’t need a cornerback, but adding one like Jaire Alexander could be the classic Howie Roseman insurance play. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean are studs, and Kelee Ringo flashed potential, but with only 113 snaps last season, there’s no guarantee he’s ready for a full-time role. Bringing in Alexander on a cheap, incentive-heavy deal gives Philly flexibility, depth, and the option to rotate coverages — all while showcasing a potential trade chip or free agent-to-be.

With that said…

Look, I’m not anti-trade. If Howie wants to go full Goblin Mode and fleece another team at the deadline? Beautiful. Parade me down Broad Street in October, I’ll be the first one yelling “SIGN HIM LONG-TERM!”

But let’s stop with the “If we don’t make a move, we’re not contenders” nonsense.

We already are the best team in the league. The defending champs. The deepest roster. The most complete squad. Period.

So yeah — I’m with Ike. Trade or no trade, the Birds are still on top. Until proven otherwise.
