WATCH: Rob McElhenney ranks Philly celebrities by Eagles knowledge on Hot Ones Versus
Rob McElhenney didn’t flinch when it came time to rank famous Philadelphians by their Eagles IQ. Sitting next to his Always Sunny co-stars Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton on the newest episode of Hot Ones Versus, McElhenney was asked to rank Philadelphia celebrities by their Eagles fandom.
Rob was given four options to rank, Kevin Hart, Bradley Cooper, Quinta Brunson, and Will Smith, by who knows the most about the Birds.
Here’s what Rob McElhenney came up with:
- Bradley Cooper
- Quinta Brunson
- Kevin Hart
- Will Smith
Bradley Cooper at No. 1 is certified.
To keep it movie related, Coop didn’t just wear a garbage bag in Silver Linings Playbook, he became the spirit of every Eagles fan who thinks they can will the team to a win just by pacing and screaming at the TV.
Bradley Cooper also lead the team out of the tunnel down in New Orleans as the Birds beat the living hell out of the Kansas City Chiefs. He’s constantly in the luxury box at The Linc right next to Jeffrey Lurie, and I see him cooking up more cheesesteaks these days than appearing in movies.
Kevin Hart at No. 2 is fine.
I just watched one of those episodes where he sits in an ice bath with someone famous and Saquon Barkley was on there yucking it up. Good stuff.
Hart also seems to be quick to defend the Philly sports realm when the opportunity presents himself and he was a drunk mess like the rest of us when Nick Foles led us to glory the first time around, so he checks out in my book.
No Love for Miles Teller? Not Good.
Honestly, I’m surprised my guy Miles Teller isn’t on that list as options but I guess when you appear courtside at The Garden to watch the Knicks and Pacers play, then you immediately fall out of good graces with Philly fans.
Respectfully, who is Quinta Brunson…?
I’m gotta be honest. I have zero clue who this woman is and after I read her last name, I didn’t even waste time to look her up because if she’s related to Jalen Brunson in any way, she’s gotta be disqualified immediately.
Sorry, we’re not mixing Eagles fandom with anything New York Knicks. You saw what happened to Miles Teller above (pain) after he was flirting with those monsters court side at MSG.
It’s a quick action to cut off relations, unfortunately.
If she’s not related to Jalen Brunson, then fine, for this list specifically, she can stay in the third spot, just ahead of the biggest disappointment and unfortunately, the biggest fraud on this list who’s obviously Will Smith.
Finish the Lyrics: “Will Smith don’t have to cuss in his raps to sell records, well I do…“
If you know the rest of the verse, that’s exactly how I feel about Will Smith.
The part-owner, alleged Philly icon, and Fresh Prince himself showed up for… one Sixers game last season. His grand moment of Sixers fandom was the preamble to a loss to the Wizards, the 50th of the year, in what was arguably one of the most cursed Philadelphia sports season in history.
Will Smith was in town that night in March to promote his new rap album which coincidentally, is the only time he ever comes back to Philadelphia, even as he still holds a “part owner” title of one of our sports teams. That has to be the only time over the past decade or two that Will Smith even pretended to be a Philly sports fan, right?
Will Smith hasn’t been a Philly guy since the first episode of Fresh Prince. He’s been living that Malibu life for decades. Again, only time he shows up in town is when he’s promoting a movie or trying to rehab his image.
He is not one of us and honestly, I wish the city of Philadelphia would stop claiming him. Sure, mainly that comes from his Sixers track record but if it’s justified there, then it’s justified in leaving him completely off any Philly Sports related list moving forward.
Solid work here from Rob McElhenney
Rob called it perfectly. Will Smith abandoned this city. You can’t scream “West Philadelphia born and raised” and then ghost us for 20 years.
In the end, McElhenney nailed it — especially if we apply the Quinta Brunson asterisk. I still would have put my guy Miles Teller in the mix. Bradley Cooper and Kevin Hart are real-deal Eagles fans and yes, Will Smith is just a guy who left the nest.
