Saquon Barkley sends clear message to NFL: He’s just getting started

The Eagles have a problem on their hands — but it’s a good one. His name is Saquon Barkley, and according to the man himself, we haven’t even seen his best yet.

Coming off one of the most dominant seasons by a running back in NFL history, Saquon Barkley met with the media at the NovaCare Complex this week and made it very clear: he’s not satisfied.

Despite rushing for over 2,000 yards in the regular season, leading the league in touches, and finishing with over 2,500 total rushing yards including the playoffs, Barkley says he feels fresh. In his words, he’s entering his prime.

“I don’t know how many touches I had, nor how many yards, but it doesn’t feel like it. I feel really good… I feel like I’m entering my prime,” Barkley told reporters.

And that should terrify the rest of the league.

Saquon Barkley’s Historic 2024 Was Only the Beginning

Let’s not downplay what Saquon Barkley accomplished last season. The man touched the ball 378 times in the regular season and still came out of it feeling like he just got warmed up. That’s not normal. That’s not human. That’s Saquon Barkley.

He became just the ninth player in league history to crack 2,000 rushing yards in a season, led the league in carries, and still managed to keep his body right heading into 2025. Now, with another full year in the Eagles’ system under his belt, the possibilities are endless.

The Eagles’ Backfield Belongs to Saquon Barkley

The Eagles already had one of the most dangerous offenses in football. Now they have a version of Saquon Barkley who believes he hasn’t even peaked yet. For a guy who just put up one of the best statistical seasons in league history, that’s not just confidence — that’s a straight-up warning shot to every defense on the schedule.

Philly’s offense runs through Jalen Hurts, but make no mistake: Saquon Barkley is the hammer. And based on how he’s talking, that hammer is only getting heavier.

If this is truly the start of Barkley’s prime, the rest of the NFC is cooked.
